a girl and her camera

my photography has been an outward manifestation of an inward journey. the journey to be seen fresh and anew as the rising sun of each day. glowing in brilliance, with the past behind me, and the excitement of a future unknown. we all long to be seen through the lens of another that won’t judge us, but accept us for the vision and beauty that we possess, right here, right now. with every image, we carry the power to make the ordinary extraordinary, and breathe new life into that which otherwise may be overlooked.

i thank God for the unique opportunity to change the world around me by showing you the world that i see. my vision is an instrument of change, memorializing the precious details in life for all times. just like every image has angles that abound, each different from the rest, so too do people have many sides to them, unique in their own right. may all of our eyes be open enough to also see their beauty.

A Double Portion of Joy!!!

I knew months ago when I talked to two close friends, Tammy and Barb (whose maternity pictures are in the August blog - Bellies Galore!), that they would possibly be delivering their babies in the same month, perhaps the same week - but as it turns out, they delivered 5 hours apart! Today I had the honor and privilege of being an Aunt to two new babies in my life!! Little baby boy Billy and baby girl Cora!!

Here are some pictures of Billy - isn't he sooo cute!!!! He already has a full head of hair - soo handsome. We haven't decided what he will call me yet- Aunt Leslie seems so formal - I'll keep thinking about it. I need to come up with something so we can start practicing! =)

And then there is sweet little Cora - finally a little girl in a family of all boys (besides mom). Little Cora will be joining the ranks of 3 older brothers - so she has a lot of covering and will be one tough girl as she grows up. And her mom has always hated shopping, and has lucked out with 3 boys, so I eagerly look forward to watching her shop for a little girl. =) I of course will tag along and offer my shopping expertise where needed.
Both mom's were in great spirits and I absolutely can't wait to make these two new blessings the object of my camera's obsession!! Ooh, I should introduce them to each other . . . I know, I know, slow down. LOL!

Enjoy! Leslie

The "Model" Family!

Through a referral from a colleague, I was led to photograph the Peters family and they were so much fun! We really had a good time. We joked that they should be models on the cover of GAP or something!! =)

It always takes a moment to get a vibe for the personality of every client I work with, but it did not take long before the 11 of them, and myself were barefoot in the grass, and in the middle of the street, laughing and having a good time. We literally and figuratively were stopping traffic!

Felica & Quincy Tied the Knot!!!!

The blessed and awaited day finally came for this fabulous couple!!! On September 13, 2008 Felicia and Quincy said "I do," "I will," "I am" "I promise to be" and everything in between. The vocalist were amazing, the bridal party a treat and the weather PERFECT!

The ceremony was at Trinity Mt. Carmel Church and the reception was at Concordia Seminary.

I've already been solicited to take future maternity and infant portraits for this couple and I truly look forward to it.

Delta Diva

I had the honor today to take the maternity pictures of my sweet sweet friend and soror, as she embarks on an amazing journey in her own life, to soon welcome her baby girl into the world.

As always, my friends are so good to me - I always have so many ideas, but it takes all the right elements to pull them off - and I was very happy with our time together. She agreed to meet me at 6:30a to catch some amazing shots just as the sun was coming up in Forest Park, and then we went on to have some more fun at Studio Altius in Maplewood - owned by the fabulous David Cervan.

We had a good time, as you can see. I'm not sure what we were talking about - but we were laughing pretty often even before daylight broke!!

Japanese Festival 2008

For yet another year God has given me the opportunity to shoot the Japanese Festival at the Botanical Gardens - I love these events! There is so much going on, I can hardly take pictures fast enough. Between the Sumo wrestlers, the Kimono fashion show, Taiko drums and amazing vendors - the Garden was packed!!!!

Sharhondia & Sean - Standing in God's Favor

Finally the long awaited day came for Sharhondia and Sean - a couple I've come to greatly admire for how faithfully they relied on God and placed Him first in their courtship and marriage. On August 30, 2008, they finally tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Bethesda, adorned in violet and shades of blue. Every detail was in its place, the weather perfect and it was beautiful!

I know God will continue to watch over this couple with His favor and grace.

Below is a small slideshow of this blessed day (pause the Blog music - to the left - to fully enjoy the show).

God Bless,

Leslie
